Is honor always worth the sacrifice it demands?Review: I almost don’t know how to start this review. This book was everything. It was adventure and sorrow … it was pain and joy … and it was an adventure of the most significant sort. I was so immersed in this vast world that it was hard to close the book and leave it. Brandon Sanderson build an epic world with a truly amazing magic system and characters that I personally want to have tea with while we talk politics and morality. If that wasn’t enough, the character growth and intricacy around ideas of faith was masterfully done. This had me deep thinking beyond plot and character to real world belief systems and social points, and I love it when books engage me on this level. I think what I loved most, was that every character was flawed – and we knew it. There was no character left unscathed in this story – and we saw into nearly all of their deep dark closets. I couldn’t figure out the twists, and just when I thought Sanderson had me looking left he hit me with a right hook! I loved Vinn and I anguished for her. I loved Elend and I was annoyed with him too! I even grew to understand Zane. Sazed though – might be my favorite character – and his own journey was so emotional that I don’t know how soon I will recover from it. I cannot recommend this book enough. Happy reading.Favorite quote: “You can change my clothing and my bearing, but you can’t change the soul of who I am.” - Elend Venture
